A week before playing Chestnut Ridge, Coach Nick Lovrich said that Bellwood has been lacking the explosive plays. That changed last week as the Blue Devils found the end zone 7 times and turned in several momentum-changing plays against the Lions.

Bellwood accounted for 4 interceptions, 3 passing touchdowns, and 2 fumbles recoveries in their 46-28 victory in New Paris.

With the win, Bellwood-Antis advanced its record to 4-4. As for the Lions, their record dropped to 3-5.

“I thought we played pretty well,” said B-A coach Nick Lovrich. “We took care of the little things and multiple guys stepped up and played very well.”

Chestnut Ridge got on the scoreboard first with a 17-yard passing touchdown from their quarterback Landyn Pincin.

It didn’t take long for the Blue Devils to respond. Juniors Bradyn Partner and Ethan Shawley connected for a 60-yard pass to make the score 7-7 going into the second quarter.

With 10:34 left in the second quarter, junior Jackson Dorminy intercepted a pass from Pincin and returned it for a 42-yard touchdown.

Dorminy had 2 pick-sixes on the night.

“Watching film helped with my reads. I was kind of just going with the flow of the play. I hope to have the same success next week,” Dorminy said.

Chestnut Ridge responded quick with a 32-yard run from Jayden Imler to tie the score 14-14.

With 3:38 seconds remaining until halftime, Alex McCartney scored a touchdown on a 4-yard run. The PAT was no good, which made the score 20-14.

Shortly after the touchdown senior Brady Hostler got B-A’s second pick when he intercepted a pass from Pincin.

That set the Blue Devils up with great field positioning, and Bellwood was able to capitalize off of the interception with a 30-yard passing touchdown to junior Jeffery Waite.

Going into the half Bellwood was sitting at a comfortable 26-14 lead.

In a rather quiet third quarter, B-A scored once with 9:48 left in the third when Partner connected with Ethan Shawley for a 40-yard passing touchdown to increased the Devils’ lead to 33-14 going into the fourth quarter.

Chestnut Ridge scored early in the quarter on a 13-yard passing touchdown to narrow the lead down to only 5 points, but with 5:46 seconds left junior Chase Plummer got the score back as he scored on an 8-yard touchdown.

That score made the score 39-21.

When Chestnut Ridge wanted their get back Dorminy said no. He got his second interception of the game which he returned for a 56 yard touchdown, making the score 46-21.

Chestnut Ridge got the last score with 10 seconds left on a 2 yard run.

With that last score the final of the game was 46-28.

In his best day as a passer, Partner completed 4 of 5 passes for 145 yards. McCartney rushed for 101 yards, and Plummer added 85.

B-A will play Bellefonte at Memorial Stadium this week in the final LHAC game before the Week 10 crossover games.
