A year of rehab paid off for Bellwood-Antis’ top rushers last week against Clearfield in the first game of the 2025 season.

Alex McCartney and Chase Plummer ran for a combined 165 and 4 total touchdowns in the Devils’ 28-21 victory over the Bisons at Bison Stadium in a Laurel Highlands crossover game.

“It feels great to finally be back playing the sports I love. I’ve put in countless hours since the day I came out of surgery, and now I’m here to prove something. I’m coming for it all this season,” Plummer said.

Both Plummer and McCartney sat the 2024 season out after tearing their ACLs. After a year of rehab they were ready to go and they didn’t disappoint. Plummer had 9 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown and a reception for yards.

McCartney carried 28 times for 115 yards and three scores, including the winning TD with just 31 seconds left to break a 21-21 tie.

McCartney had gotten B-A on the board first in the first quarter with a 1-yardf score, but a pick-6 from the Bisons quickly put Clearfield on top 7-6. From there, it was a back-and-forth game.

While the Devils led 21-14 at halftime, the Bison tied the game once more in the third following a short run by Colton Ryan.

That set up McCartney’s big run, which allowed B-A to start the season 1-0 heading into this week’s Laurel Highlands crossover game against Bishop McCort.
